Topics include fiber types and characteristics, fiber identification, carpet construction and styles, dyeing at the mill, soil characteristics and the chemistry of cleaning. In addition to learning upholstery cleaning methods, a student of the Upholstery & Fabric Cleaning Technician course will learn about upholstery fiber categories, fiber identification and testing, manufacturing of the fiber and fabric, chemistry of cleaning, upholstery protection methods, spotting and potential problems. Each student will leave with a specific knowledge about fabric and fiber content, as well as furniture construction. By enabling the technician to identify limitations and potential cleaning related problems on a given piece of upholstery, the technician will be able to properly set the customer's expectations and tackle any upholstery job with confidence and a satisfied customer.

The Odor Control Technician course covers odor sources, detection process, equipment, chemical options and applications.
